I wrote Lemkesoft’s support asking if it was possible to set transparency via AppleScript they replied with a new beta version of GraphicConverter with this feature added. Thanks to a revamped interface plus some powerful and accessible features, GraphicConverter is a solid photo application for managing, converting and editing your pictures. GraphicConverter 5.6.3 (or higher, most likely) is the version of GraphicConverter that supports setting up transparency in an image via AppleScript. Other apps Ive tried either dont allow color tagging at all, dont sync with Finder color tags, or only allow tagging with one color or make the process needlessly difficult. GraphicConverter lacks the more advanced web sharing features that are integrated into iPhoto however. GraphicConverter comes closest, but there is a bug that prevents it from showing multiple color tags on an image, or picking up color tags under certain circumstances.
